Two Door Cinema Club : 'I Can Talk'

Two Door Cinema Club : 'I Can Talk'

Released: 16th November 2009

Label: Kitsune Maison

It is always good to avoid cliches, but Bangor act Two Door Cinema Club are unquestionably one of the most exciting bands around at the moment. As they will learn, many hands make light work and there certainly is no place like home, yet with their unique blend of bright guitar melodies and angelic voices they are sure to be above such ropey phrases in the future.

New single “I Can Talk” is a shining example of why. With a slightly more electronic feel than their live performances, their sonorous guitars are supremely backed by a robust yet unobtrusive synth. It is at the breakdown that they shine the most, crafting beautifully intricate riffs around each other with a rare clarity and vision. Like a less aggressive Foals, their prowess is in the ideas and their perfect execution.

Yet it is Alex Trimble's crisp and refreshing vocals that catch the ear the most. With a tone seldom heard in popular music he glides over even the most enthusiastic of melodies with little effort, hitting the upper echelons of heady scales whilst maintaining an enigmatic purity to his voice.

It is almost impossible to express just how exciting Two Door Cinema Club are without jumping up and down on furniture or ramming the CD into people's hands. With such all round talent and a unique selling point in Trimble's voice, they have all the tools to become an extremely successful act, as “I Can Talk” undoubtedly indicates.
