Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...

David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

The Bronx: 'Young Bloods'

The Bronx: 'Young Bloods'

The Bronx's latest offering 'Young Bloods' will certainly please existing fans, but is unlikely to set the world on fire.

The punk quintet have certainly stuck to their roots, with political messages and overdriven guitars abundant, although it is hard not to notice the slightly more mainstream tint to the track. “Young bloods/ never let them silence your voice” seems to be the somewhat overused message, especially when practically every line is started with the track's title.

The guitars are slick and dirty, with a brief but sweet solo towards the end of the track. A steady 4/4 drumbeat could perhaps have been more considered, but this does not detract from what is a solid song.

There is nothing wholly to dislike about the track in all, but it has to be said there is nothing to get particularly excited about either.
