Pyramiddd : 'Medicine'

Pyramiddd : 'Medicine'

Released: Out Now!!!

Label: DDD

The now more appropriately titled Pyramiddd appear to have mellowed somewhat. Having ditched their rather course (yet undeniably amusing) name, their latest offering “Medicines” is a packet of electro brilliance, demonstrating poise and containing considerably more intelligence then many of it's synthpop competitors.

With an relentless melody of infectious nature, the track is onto an instant winner. Despite it becoming slightly tedious in the final moments, this pulsing synth is complemented by an equally addictive chorus. “Take your medicine” seems to be the entirety of it's message, yet this matters little when compared with the joyfully compelling melody beneath it. With voices like fluctuating like apparitions, each element doesn't fail to raise a smile.

As simple as it sounds, there has obviously been great consideration given to this track. With the main riff pounding on for the entire four minutes, subtle pulses and tweaks are injected behind it to ensure a freshness and ongoing intrigue. These minor touches work a treat, with each giving a new lease of life to a basic yet effective premise.

Add to that some recorded dialogue discussing the nature of science, and you have a track that knows what it's doing, yet does not take it's self too seriously. Simple in premise yet very different in execution, “Medicines” is exactly that, an antidote to boring, lifeless electro.
