Leyline presents FOR A MINOR REFLECTION (live) +support Date: June 17th (National Icelandic Day) Venue: 229 (229, Great Portland Street) Ticket Price: £5 in advance (NUS £5) Adv Tickets: www.ticketweb.co.uk Doors: 7.30-11pm All shows are 18+ unless specified “highlight at Eurosonic – make ethereal, melody-soaked music with international appeal.“ Music Week “Iceland's shiny new version of Sigur Ros“ Uncut Hailing from Iceland FaMR comprises of four 19-year-olds from Reykjavík, Iceland - Kjartan Holm (guitar), Guðfinnur Sveinsson (guitar and piano), Elvar Jón Guðmundsson (bass) andJóhannes Ólafsson (percussion). Their music is best described as energetic, melodious post-rock, though being the natural creative visionaries they are, the band expand and even subvert their style with almost every song. Their fellow Icelanders Sigur Rós after having chose the band to tour extensively with them in 2008 in Europe led them claim that FaMR were “A band with the potential to out Mogwai”. Praise indeed.

The quartet struck up a fan base with their self-produced debut album Reistu þig við, sólin er komin á loft or ‘Rise and Shine The Sun’s Up’ as better know in the UK which was recorded over a weekend in Iceland and will be released on June 15th through Proper Distribution (also available on iTunes). In addition to this beautifully crafted record the band’s energetic live shows have earned them a slew of accolades, including favourable comparisons to Explosions in the Sky, Caspain and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. This is perfect timing on National Icelandic Day to see one of Iceland’s most promising bands in action!
In 2009, FaMR’s star has continued to rise, wowing crowds at Holland’s EurosSonic (Jan, 2009) and pretty much everywhere they’ve played. Now they are ready to unleash their debut album material with a series of carefully selected live shows in Europe followed by slots at the key summer festivals.
