Le Corps de Mince Francois: ‘Bitch of the Bitches’

‘Bitch of the Bitches’ is the new single by the most straightforward of outsiders – Le Corps de Mince Francois. Probably more than worthy of the title Finland’s finest, though I’m not expert on the nation and its musical outlays, ‘Le Corps’ are fantastically fast in everything they do, none more so on ‘Bitch of the Bitches’, a really furious electro-pop assault on your stereo. Check out what they look like as well as what they sound like, too. It might just be me, but looking at this trio fills my heart with fear - I think if I met them I’d wilt into a stuttering mess and beg forgiveness for any word in this article that they might not totally agree with. It’s a good job then that I think this record is superb and that they’re all really pretty too. That should solve that.
Le Corps are relatively new to the scene and have done well to break free of the shackles of being from a country not famed for it’s floor filling music and it’s thanks to records like this. As I said before, the tempo doesn’t really relent, but aside from that it’s the vocal I really like. At times almost hysterical in delivery, the three women deliver semi-rap that sounds like you might be playing your copy on the wrong speed setting, but then from the computerised melody backdrop you know it’s alright. Then they’ve got that all important career-breaking quality – a chorus – along with lyrics that’ll set all sorts of young boys pulses racing. Aside from that it’s not really a complex record – it doesn’t particularly tread new waters or open doors revealing brand-new Finland-inspired genre of music that’s going to change the world. No, instead it just does what the likes of MGMT and New Young Pony Club have been doing for what seems quite a long time, but it does it every bit as good and maybe even better. This single showcases both latent talent and future potential – it’s immediately accessible, hard to dislike and easy to imagine being played on the radio and in clubs and pubs.
I’d be interested to hear how this all comes together as live performance but I think it’s safe to say their shows would be entertaining, excitable characters they do seem. Exciting is a word that best sums up ‘Bitch of the Bitches’ and whatever else they have stored in the locker.
This record should probably come with some sort of health warning, but at the same time it should come with some sort of document that binds all DJ’s into playing it this weekend. Those worth their salt won’t take much convincing.
