Girls : 'Laura'

Released: 9th November 2009
Label: Fantasy Trashcan
A little slice of melo-dramatic indie beauty from the Hotly Tipped San Francisco band ‘Girls’ proving why they are simply, as the age old saying goes, one of the most exciting acts around at the moment. Soaked in 60’s nostalgia and mixing elements of girl groups and surf rock ‘Laura’ is the third track from band’s debut album creatively entitled ‘Album’ and delivers all the emotions and sound of yesteryear we have come to expect from the band.
Supremely competent vocals are supported by a swaggering drum beat, and a guitar solo in the songs second half that is so brilliantly played it makes you feel as if you’re on a sun-kissed beach in the U.S with a beautiful person beside you drinking cocktails till dawn.
'Girls' might not be the most ground-breaking or thought provoking act, they don’t write about politics or saving the world, they do however talk candidly about something we all want and can relate to, love, and or as long as they keep churning out songs of such emotional intensity and beauty, they have one sure fan here.
