Wednesday morning and now most of the 4TR team are fully recovered from their epic travels, ranging from London to Bristol to Nottingham for the Dot to Dot Festival. It only took 3 days.

Editors Ramblings – Long Blondes RIP

I wanted to dedicate this rambling to the Long Blondes and the really sad news that they have called it a day after their enigmatic guitarist and chief songwriter, Dorien Cox suffered a stroke in June.
Following the announcement that the 5-piece art-rock had split, Dorien has revealed plans to play farewell gigs for their fans to leave things on a high note once he has recovered enough to play guitar again.
Furthermore, he also said that both he and sonic voiced singer Kate Jackson are planning to explore the realms of solo material and will hopefully be working together again in the future.
Cue their friends at Angular Recording Corporation releasing a compilation of their early, pre-Rough Trade singles - called, "Singles". The CD includes the A & B-sides of their first four singles, and some bonus tracks.
The full tracklisting is:
'New Idols'
'Long Blonde'
'Autonomy Boy'
'Giddy Stratospheres'
'Polly'
'Darts'
'Appropriation (By Any Other Name)'
'My Heart Is Out Of Bounds'
'Lust In The Movies'
'Separated By Motorways' (alternative version)
'Big Infatuation'
'Peterborough'
I am genuinely happy I got to see them perform live and witness hits such as the brilliant ‘Giddy Stratospheres’, and the glorious Erol Alkan produced ‘Century’. So just for nostalgia sakes here are some images from the Long Blondes in action at the Cavern Club in Exeter
xoxo
