Our aim is to bring to your attention new music by writing about it in each of our own little ways, without the cynicism that many a hack portrays, so if you like what we have to say then please do get in touch. In fact if you don’t like what we have to say then still get in touch, we are open to the minds and thoughts of others and are in no way believers of our own hype.
With the “exciting” launch of the “new look NME” aka heat magazine this week, it was interesting to see that new music features more heavily in a publication like that and in particular increasing the radar section to a whole 4 pages out of 74. Yes sarcasm was intended there, but is it a case of too little too late? Hmm time will tell, but whatever they or others do, its clear to us and has been for a long time that new music needs to be promoted more and emerging talent found and nurtured. Without wanting to sound conceited and trite there is so much raw talent that remains under the “radar” and that actually goes for anyone involved in the creative world. For that reason we will be actively seeking it out and that means that we need contributors to write for us who want the chance to get published and who genuinely share our passion for music. Whatever the genre! So get in touch and we may be able to sort you out tickets etc for gigs you want to go to and set up interviews with the people you admire – email us at info@4ortherecord.com
On a completely separate note I started teaching myself the guitar last week as I needed a hobby that didn’t involve alcohol. Going well thus far….my fender squire and amp have taken a bit of a bashing this week as have the tips of my fingers on my left hand, so much so that I am wincing as I type. Poor me! So as I struggle to progress further than chords a, d, e, g and c (one day) despite my protestations that I should be a natural due to my guitar hero prowess, I will write about it in the vain hope that someone somewhere might want a laugh at myexpense.
Anyway I digress……
As well as the gigs etc we attend we are also going to be reporting from the Dot to Dot festival in London, Bristol and Nottingham and also Redfest, who for a smaller festival have an awesome line up with more to come. Other fest’s are in the pipeline so will have details on them as they transpire.
Its going be a musically intoxicating summer.
