David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...

Chapel Club : Five Trees

Chapel Club : Five Trees

Released: 31st May 2010

Label: A&M Records

How on earth do you follow a single as vibrant and addictive as  “Oh Maybe I”? Well, if you're Chapel Club, you release a single that oozes with yet more charm and character, of course.

With a steady bass line and rhythm in the opening sections, there is perhaps more momentum than its predecessor. Strange wails add a peculiar yet likeable element to the infectious melody, whilst the vocals are once again warm and appealing.

Add to this a rip roaring chorus and an equally aggressive bridge, and you have a track that raises Chapel Club's standards still further. Regardless of what has come before, “Five Trees” is superb song in it's own right, and yet another step up.
