Barry Peters & Dave the Orderly host Tape the Top 40!
Feat. Special guest DJ Suggs/ Cashmere Misfit and friends/ Dave Grogan/Kevin Peters/ Derek Japan
Friday 2nd October @ The Monarch, Camden, 8pm-2am
Boom Box’s, Tape Cassette players, Mix Tapes! Oh yes, you remember the days when you used to really work those fingers to get your favourite tracks off the radio on a Sunday afternoon. Well pull up your leg warmers and dig out that shell suit because the legendary Tape the Top 40 is back for 2009 at a brand spanking new venue.
Come join us at The Monarch (Camden) for an evening of outlandish high jinx brought to you by our very unique blend of compares and DJs. This month, the year is 1985 when George Michael was still hiding in the closet, Starship ‘Built this City on Rock and Roll’ and Courtney Cox was dancing onstage with Bruce Springsteen with jeans higher than Simon Cowell’s.
So come join your host, the brassy and boisterous Barry Peters from Halifax Hospital Radio as he takes you through a year of sentimental smashers from a year when Phil Collins’ records were flying on the shelf quicker than you could say Maggie Thatcher.
Bringing a touch of style to proceedings in extra special guest Madness’ very own Suggs who has had a phenomenal year bringing out his autobiography ‘Suggs in the City’ and is about to embark upon The Liberty Of Norton Folgate UK tour with Madness in December. Prior to the dates Madness are to release two albums. The first, ‘Total Madness’, a comprehensive compilation of their finest moments through three decades of pop, is out on September 21st with a second disc featuring the classic music videos whilst October 26th sees a very special re issue of the band’s debut ‘One Step Beyond’ with a second disc of rare and unreleased tracks from the band’s formative years and the album era.
Joining him, will the very lovely Cashmere Misfit who prides herself on being soft, strong and very, very wrong! Cashmere Misfit gives the gold seal to everything from Gwens Guthrie and Mcrae to Green Velvet and The Count & Sinden. Disco and hip hop, techno and house, Cashmere Misfit is old school rave with new school tunes.
Dave Grogan, Kevin Peters, and Derek Japan will also be counting down the whole chart in it’s entirety, slamming out classics from this smashing pop year!
Expect musical treats and bonkers shenanigans in abundance as Barry Peters and the crew Tape the Top 40. So, don’t be nasty, show us your pasty and come and ‘Tape the Top 40’ with us on 2nd October! IT'S TIME TO GET ON THE END OF IT!
