Air France : 'Gothenburg Belongs To Us'

Released: 19th October 2009
Label: XL Recordings
The first thing that strikes me about this is the immediate sound and the title. They synth-pop sound they use here and the reference to Gothenburg in the title, to me, smacks of homages to Sweedish duo The Tough Alliance, who actually hail from Gothenburg (and have some of the most riotous shows this side of hardcore).
Happily, Air France also stamp themselves over the track with breathy female vocals, the somewhat more house-y arrangements and synth sounds throughout the song. All the while, though, the song remains a delightfully upbeat piece of sythn-pop that it is hard not to like. Mellow without being downbeat, poppy without being sickly, it is another track I am enjoying on a remarkably sunny October morning. Happy music and sunny Autumnal mornings, a good combination.
