Whats New?

Gorillaz Video Screening : Gathered in a small studio in London’s Soho, you have to wonder what could possibly be so impressive about the new Gorillaz video that Britain’s journalists have been shepherded together for a screening. New single “On Melancholy Hill”...
Introducing : Glass Animals : www.4ortherecord.com hit fever pitch this weekend when not 1 but 2 new tracks from the incredible Glass Animals graced our inbox with their presence...
David's Lyre : Masked troubadour, David's Lyre is, like his semi-hidden aesthetic, somewhat of a mystery at present. Although if fairness exists in the world at all...
Frankie & The Heartstrings : Interview : Sometimes, (not often mind), you go to see a band with a vague sense of expectation, born from nothing more than early releases and odd pieces of press, only for, by some twist of fate, this band you considered “fairly decent” until now to prove one of the...
Lunar Youth : Interview : Lunar Youth make the kind of music that makes your heart skip a beat as the emphasis on romance engulfs you in a warm flurry of emotion. It’s really rather lovely. Their nostalgic take on pop, reminiscent of the 80’s penchant for...

The legendary mini urban festival- Fistful Of Fandango is back for third year!! The hipsters and the whipsters behind the infamous Club Fandango are exceedingly pleased to announce the first wave of genre defying acts to grace this September’s highly anticipated: A Fistful Of Fandango 3. Taking place once again at its favourite stomping ground, The 229 Venue on London’s Great Portland Street over four days between Wednesday September 9th and Saturday September 12th.

This four night stand will once again see Team Fandango take over the whole venue to deliver London’s new music lovers six acts a night, with the three bands on the main stage interacting skilfully with the three bands in Room two – this year presented by Schuh and hosted by the ever eclectic boundary pushing team this is Converse Music and Artrocker Magazine with their collaborative music project- ‘New Blood’. Both have eternally have their finger on the pulse of what’s fresh and new, ensuring that this superb music festival will present yet again THE best new music talent before the masses have their hands on them.

A Fistful Of Fandango has indelibly stamped itself upon the festival map over the last three years, snuggling in at the tail end of the festival season just in between Reading and Leeds Festival and Bestival, charting a whole new type of city music event for new music lovers. This year’s offering is no exception with a plethora or the freshest talent available throughout all four nights.

Fronting the Fandango Stage on Wednesday 9th are Herman Dune who will be giving us a fresh blast of his refreshing surf, folk, Garage sound followed onwards with the sounds of 21 person spectacular alt girl choir – Gaggle who will be infusing the night with their haunting, chanting, stomping, choral-riot-grrrl sounds. Over at the New Blood Stage, Factory Floor will bestowing on the crowd their dark textured sound and austere visual identity followed up with a healthy serving of uber stylish Punk-Goth heavyweight femme-rockers An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump.

Thursday 10th sees Future Of The Left take to the Fandango Stage to present to the masses their very individual demanding musical pop slant whilst on the New Blood Stage the hotly tipped Manchester mob, Kong add to the Fandango mix a taste of their abrasive and ferociously powerful sound alongside the shriek beat posse that is Kasms who will bringing their deliciously dark flavour to the proceedings.

Friday 11th brings forth a special showing on the New Blood Stage from Flashguns who are currently touring with Jamie T and with fellow co-horts on the night- Video Nasties their thrashing explosive frenetic energy is set to rip the roof off the 229. LR Rockets will be who gluing everything in place with an injection of their relentless joyous racket and celebrating the launch of their next single ‘Renee Loves Losers’ out on the 7th September, and with some very special Fandango guests to be announced for main stage the night is looking hotter than hot.

Saturday 12th sees Art Brut provide some of their deliciously eccentric upbeat poignant pop beats on the Fandango main stage with Hatcham Social who will be playing their indie pop and post-punk shoe gaze sounds alongside the heavy weight sounds of The Molotov’s .New Blood presents offering from Televised Crimewave with their songs like fine pieces of art in the making, garagey, groovy and always fun and The Chapman Family with intensely dark and noisy indie sound whose chaotic gigs can change from euphoric to the apocalypse in an instant. New, backing up the rear are new darlings du jour Lion Club who will be stepping up to challenge with their melancholy urgent sound and haunting vocals.

Always delighted to blunder in blindly where other sensible types fear to tread, Club Fandango set up A Fistful Of Fandango Festival on a wing and a prayer in 2007 and past bands to have trodden the Fistful boards include the likes of Maps, Shitdisco, Operator Please, Friendly Fires, British Sea Power, Good Books and Pete & The Pirates, Fionn Regan, Shout Out Louds, Camera Obscura, The Clientele, Red Light Company, The Ruling Class, Frightened Rabbit, and Broken Records amongst others. This year’s A Fistful Of Fandango 3 line up is no exception and with more many more exceptional acts to be announced shortly Fandango 3 is truly hot on the heels of its predecessors.

Like a moderately disturbed distant cousin of the Camden Crawl A Fistful Of Fandango merrily contrives to mix together the freshest of leftfield faces with established alternative talents not to be missed.

A Fistful Of Fandango 3: 1 venue: 2 stages: 4 nights: 24 bands
